10 Things You Can Do to Cheer Yourself Up

Feeling the blues? Your boss giving you extra pressure lately? Desperately need to do something to cheer yourself up? Here are some ways to do just that:

3. Get Outside. Fresh air does wonders for your body and spirit. If you can go to a park or a place in nature, even better. Here are some things you could do: go for a walk, fly a kite, plant some vegetables or flowers, roller skate, ride a bike, or go on a 'treasure hunt" to find things for an art project.

4. Let Music Take You Higher. Turn on your favorite music and sing! Pull down the shades and dance. Rent a video on belly dancing. If you're in your car, you can still move a little to the music. Go for it! What do you care what other people think? Have fun with it! Sing, dance, play an instrument. Practice your favorite song and then go to karaoke and let the world hear your talent!

7. A Change Will Do You Good. Get some order in your house. Change your furniture around. Change your decorations, or maybe go minimalist for a change. Clear out the clutter. It doesn't matter where you start. Just pick a place in your home that's been bugging you and attack it! Then sell, throw, or give away stuff you don't need. You'll feel great afterward and you'll have made a dent in making your living space more peaceful. And maybe it will give you inspiration to tackle another area tomorrow.

8. Plan a Party. There doesn't need to be a good reason other than it's time for some fun. Start with a small idea and build around it. Maybe you can get inspired by a theme, certain foods, or your favorite music to get the ball rolling. Then think about who you would like to invite. When and where will you have it? Will you cook, hire caterers, or make it pot luck? A meal or finger foods? Will there be dancing, contests, games, or other fun stuff like costumes? Maybe it will be low key with some jazz music, wine and cheese. Or maybe it will be a Hawaiian luau. Or maybe if you have a lot of singe friends you can have a white elephant party. Call a friend for help with the logistics.

9. Personal Spa and Relaxation Day. Include as many of these ideas as you like or have time for. Get a massage, pedicure, and haircut. Take a bubble bath with candles, music and champagne. Give yourself an egg-white or mud mask facial. Line up 2-3 movies to watch in bed while eating your favorite delights: ice cream, chocolate, whip cream, jello, popcorn, finger food hors d'oeuvre, and more. What else would you include to pamper yourself?

How to stay awake at work or school?

This is for the sleepy heads who are prone to get caught napping. Instead of thinking of what to say when you've been caught sleeping, wouldn't it be better to avoid getting caught altogether? Learn how to stay awake at work or school with tips such as these:

7. Physical Movement. When people are sleep deprived, exercise can increase alertness. This is good if you absolutely can not leave work early and you need to meet deadlines. Instead of giving into the head nodding and eyelid drooping, get up and get out for 10 minutes. Do some type of brisk physical movement like walking, jogging, jumping jacks, push ups, etc. If there is a stairwell, jog up and down the stairs 5 or 6 times.

8. Get Help from Colleagues. If you have some buddies at work, confide in them that you need their help with staying awake. See if there are any things you can work on together. Talking with co-workers will help keep your mind engaged and alert.

9. Pace Yourself. If you are just mildly tired, a good strategy is to simply take it real slow. Don't be too ambitious. Just take one thing at a time. And conserve your energy by avoiding conflict. Then at 5pm, zip on out to get home so you can rest!

10. Take Multiple Breaks. If your work doesn't give you unlimited breaks, take a bathroom break once an hour to get up and walk. And when you take your breaks, close your eyes for 5 minutes. Try splashing some cold water on your face before heading back to your work.

11. Stimulate the Mind. Find something to laugh about periodically during the day even if it is as simple as your ridiculous predicament. Find something that is interesting, fun, stimulating, or otherwise pleasurable to think about. Focus your mind on these thoughts as much as you can during the day to keep your mind awake.

12. Eat Frequent Snacks. Healthy is best. Protein is good for energy that won't make you sleepy. Avoid sugar because it will give you a little boost, but then when the sugar crash comes it will be harder to take given your sleepiness. Try not to eat too much or too little. If you're really hurting and can't do healthy, perhaps a steady stream of chocolate might do the trick. :)

Zenni Optical Prescription Glasses

If you've eyes like mine, you would require prescription glasses too. I've been wearing glasses since I was fifteen years of age and had made quite a few replacements along the way.

I was really foolish at that time thinking I'll look more scholarly and charming *ahem* by wearing prescription glasses. Little did I know of the hassle that comes with having to wear glasses. I've thought of wearing contact lenses before but with the cost involved and the fear of my fingers poking my eyeballs everyday, I decided to bear with my prescription glasses. Also, my mom tried contact lenses many years back with disastrous results. I'll rather have my defective eyeballs rather than having totally non-working ones, thank you very much!

So the search for prescription glasses with trendy designs continues. The cost of these prescription glasses are always considered too. That is the reason why the $8 Zenni Optical Rx Eyeglasses attracted my attention so much. There's a wide variety of designs and colours to choose from.

Be it short-sightedness, long-sightedness or astigmatism, they have the right glasses to meet your needs. Old enough that you require bifocal glasses? No problem. Need UV protection for your lenses? No problem. Prices start from as low as $8! So, what are you waiting for? Check out their merchandise yourself instead of relying everything you read in a paid review!

Kamagra - The Cheaper Alternative To Viagra

If you've recently seen the video about the poor tapir trying to get his pole up but try as it may, it still had difficulty with his tool, you would be able to understand the relief many men felt when Viagra was invented.

It practically made men who suffered from erectile dysfunction feel more manly and whole again. That blue little pill practically saved the lives and marriages of countless people. However, not everyone is able to afford paying for those pills as they are quite costly.

Initially studied for use in hypertension, this drug has recorded sales in the billions a year. With a pill costing about USD10 and many men suffered from erectile dysfunction, that isn't very hard to believe.

However, there are still many who are suffering from erectile dysfunction and are not able to afford getting the pills. This is where generic drugs come in. Generic drugs contain the same content as the original except that they are available more cheaply because they don't have to factor in the cost of research, patenting, marketing and so forth which cost the original pharmaceutical companies a lot.

You can get the generic drug Kamagra at a very reasonable price at GV Pharmacy. You shouldn't solely believe what is written in paid reviews. Instead, check out the website yourself if you're interested to know more about their offerings.

Still Wanna Drink Coke After Watching This?

I've given up on soft drinks a long time ago. I do however have the occasional cup/can of Sprite or 100plus once awhile but very, very seldom. We've all heard about the adverse effects of drinking Coke and the likes such as links to cancer and diabetes. If you're still a Coke or soft drink fan, maybe you would like to reconsider after watching this video.

I think this post is quite timely since the Chinese New Year celebrations are just around the corner and most families would have stocked up cartons of Coke and other soft drinks. Maybe a change of drinks would be a good idea.

why are animals going missing at the fish house?

first: the case of the missing tortoise - or is it a terappin? i still am confused with the terminology. well. we searched everywhere to no avail...the shelled one was still missing. only some days later he was found in the fish house itself. wow!

second: the case of the missing logomorpha.
the brown rabbit (dunno her name) went missing...
alas, she returned and is now safe within the confines of her cage.

today: third case - (sar)Don, the silly kitten has gone missing. wonder where his paws have led him. the foster mothers are all worried sick. i hope that he will find his way back. as silly as he is, i hope that he is ok.

anyways, i caught a few photos of Don picking a fight (or flirting) with the lonesome rabbit when the partner was missing.

well, hope u guys keep a watch on your other pets...i hope rerama's pet potted plants don't take a hike soon...

or worse, rerama herself goes missing! highly unlikely? u will never know...

:)
well, cheers to u guys. hope the Don will find his way back!

USM Bans White Coffins

Referred to as "White Coffins", polystyrene food containers are no longer allowed within the USM campus. An environmentally good move IMHO but does that mean we can't order Big Macs from McDonald's to be delivered to USM anymore?

USM bans polystyrene food containers

PENANG:
Polystyrene food containers have been banned in Universiti Sains Malaysia's main campus here with immediate effect as part of its move to be green.

USM vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dzulkifli Abdul Razak said all the 32 cafeteria operators would stop using non-biodegradable styrofoam food containers as part of the university's green campaign.

"We have also prohibited the use of styrofoam and other form of polystyrene material," he said after opening the Sejahtera Cafe at the campus here Monday.

"From now on, the cafeteria operators must use eco-friendly biodegradable containers made of oil palm waste instead of the harmful styrofoam," he said.

A study carried out on Saturday showed that of the 7,000 food containers used in the campus daily, only 1,000 were biodegradable.

Prof Dzulkifli said the operators had agreed to absorb the cost, adding that the biodegradable containers cost about 20 sen each while styrofoam containers cost about three or four sen each. There would be no increase in food prices.

"We encourage students to eat in cafeteria using washable plates instead of opting for take-away," he said.

Prof Dzulkifli said the ban on styrofoam would later be extended to the USM health campus in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, and engineering campus in Nibong Tebal, Seberang Prai Selatan.

The initiative to stop the use of styrofoam was mooted by the students to promote a better future.

"All the 30,000 USM staff and students are the catalyst for the initiative," he said.

During the function, "The White Coffin" signature campaign was launched for USM students and staff to pledge their commitment to support sustainable initiatives to reduce adverse impact on environment.

"We are also seriously conducting research to produce biodegradable plastics. Our aim is to eliminate all types of substances that are unfriendly towards Mother Nature," Prof Dzulkifli said.

He said 25 students from Taiwan who visited USM recently had shown that a change in attitude and mindset was possible.

"The Taiwanese students brought with them reusable chopsticks and foldable containers. The students did not even have to use the plates provided during meals.

"The students washed the containers and chopsticks for subsequent use," he added.

What are your thoughts on this?

10 Foolproof Tips For Better Sleep

Haven't been sleeping well lately? Been slogging it out days and nights at the lab? Suffering from insomnia? In desperate need of rest and relaxation? Here are some of the ten tips for you to get better sleep:

2. Don't force yourself to sleep. The very attempt of trying to do so actually awakes you, making it more difficult to sleep.

7. Sex. Sex is a well-known nighttime stress reliever. Healthy sex life enhances your relationship, relaxes your body, releases 'happy' chemicals, and even promotes wellness. And it welcomes sleep.

10. Naps. If you suffer from insomnia, try not taking a nap. If the goal is to sleep more during the night, napping may steal hours desired later on. If you're a regular napper, and experiencing difficulty falling or staying asleep at night, give up the nap and see what happens.

They are really very simple and straightforward. Do give them a try the next time you try to make a date with the Sandman. ;)
